High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a safe, effective, and noninvasive procedure that can be used to improve facial wrinkles and skin laxity in Asian skin. It is particularly effective for clinical improvement in the jawline, cheek, and perioral areas. It has shown significant improvement of body contours when used over lax skin of lower abdomen, arms and love handles. HIFU not only results in facial lifting and improvement of wrinkles but also shows improvements in skin tone, facial contour, and subjective symptoms such as tightness or tension on the skin. Improvement is prominent after 3 months and showed a gradual decrease with time usually over 1 year.
