Pyogenic Granuloma

Home / Our Services / General Plastic Surgery / Pyogenic Granuloma

Pyogenic granuloma is a benign, rapidly growing vascular lesion presenting as a small, red, soft, sessile or pedunculated nodule that bleeds easily after minimal trauma. Patients often report sudden appearance, recurrent bleeding, mild tenderness, and occasional ulceration or crusting. Common sites include gingiva (especially maxillary anterior), lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, facial skin, fingers, and other head‑neck and acral areas. Plastic surgeons treat it with complete surgical excision or shave excision with curettage and cauterization, sometimes using laser, to achieve hemostasis, good cosmesis, and reduce recurrence.
