In recent years, the proliferation of Chinese plastic string (also known as “Chinese dor”) manufacturing units across various regions of India has sparked concerns regarding its environmental impact and safety. These manufacturing facilities are primarily found in industrial zones and rural areas, particularly in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

Chinese sor/plastic string typically comprises a combination of plastic polymers, including polypropylene and polyethylene, along with metal constituents for reinforcement purposes. However, the unregulated production and usage of such materials have prompted the Indian government to impose a ban due to environmental degradation and health hazards.

Under the ban, stringent penalties have been implemented to deter the manufacture, distribution, and use of Chinese sor/plastic string. Offenders may face heavy fines, seizure of assets, and even imprisonment as per the prevailing laws and regulations enforced by the Government of India.

It is imperative for authorities to enforce these regulations rigorously to mitigate the adverse effects of Chinese sor/plastic string on public health and the environment.
